Pre-care & Post-care Procedures are important and will directly affect your brows’ healing process and colour retentions.

Follow These Steps To Make Your PMU Appointment A Successful One!

Pre-care

Please be advised that not following pre-care information may impact your healing results.

  • Any form of facial plastic surgery would require 6-12 months to heal before getting permanent makeup done. Please speak with your physician prior to proceed into booking permanent makeup appointment.

  • All permanent makeup procedures has to be scheduled 10 days after the Covid-19 / shingles / Flu vaccination date

  • No alcohol/caffeine consumption 48 hours prior to scheduled appointment. Alcohol consumption will increase your level of sensitivity to pain regardless of numbing application. It will also increase your likelihood of swelling post procedure.

  • Avoid sun and tanning two weeks prior to procedure.

  • Do not work out 24 hours prior to procedure.

  • No Marijuana 72 hours prior to procedure

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin e or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours prior to procedure.

  • Stop taking Omega 3/fish oil one week prior to procedure.

  • No eyebrow waxing or tinting one week prior to procedure.

  • Please note that you will feel more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

Post-care

Please be advised that the healing process may take longer if you do not take proper precautionary measures.

  • Keep your brows dry for the first 48 hours. If they accidentally get wet from showering, gently pat them dry with a clean tissue—avoid rubbing. Prolonged moisture can interfere with proper healing.

  • Avoid activities that cause sweating or expose your brows to excess moisture, such as sun tanning, swimming, steam rooms, intense workouts, or water-based treatments.

  • No makeup on the brow area during healing, as it can cause irritation or lead to infection and cross-contamination.

  • Avoid acid-based skincare products (like Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Retinol, Retin-A, Hydroquinone, Vitamin C, AHA/BHA) for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. When you resume these products, keep them away from the brow area.

  • Do not apply sunscreen, soap, or moisturizers directly on the brows while healing, unless directed otherwise by your technician.

  • Do not pick, scratch, or rub the scabs or flaking skin—let it fall off naturally to avoid scarring or pigment loss.

  • If you have oily skin, gently blot the brow area 3 times a day with oil blotting sheets to help control excess oil.

  • After showering, use a cotton swab to gently clean around the brows to remove oil or debris—avoid touching the brows directly.

  • Once all scabs have naturally fallen off, gently cleanse the brow area using a mild soap or your preferred gentle facial cleanser, then pat dry with a clean towel.

  • Cleansing the area after healing is important to prevent bacteria buildup and avoid dry yellow crusting on the skin.

What to Expect During the Healing Process (for Eyebrows):

  • Your brows may appear darker, fuller, and more defined during the first few days. This is completely normal and part of the healing process.

  • Healing typically takes 7 to 14 days, but this can vary depending on your skin type, age, overall health, and lifestyle.

  • It’s normal to experience mild swelling, redness, or sensitivity for the first 3–4 days. Some clients may also experience slight bruising, especially if prone to bruising—this should fade within a few days.

  • A mild stinging or tingling sensation around the brows is also common shortly after the procedure.

  • Around day 4 to 5, you may notice flaking or light scabbing—please do not pick or scratch. Allow it to shed naturally.

  • Once the scabs have completely fallen off, you may notice the color looks lighter or faded by 30–60%. Don’t worry—this is temporary. The pigment will begin to resurface around weeks 2 to 3 as your skin regenerates.

  • The initial session is just the first step. A touch-up appointment is essential to perfect the shape, color, and overall look. This allows us to assess how your skin retained the pigment and make any needed adjustments.

  • After full healing, avoid applying skincare products with acids (like retinol, glycolic acid, or vitamin C) directly over the brows, as they can fade pigment retention by up to 50%. Also, avoid lipid-peptide-based skincare on the brow area, as it may interfere with pigment stability.

Note: In case of any complications, please consult your family physician.
